What does PlaceholderAPI do?
PlaceholderAPI substitutes the dynamic values of Minecraft in messages, scoreboards, menus and other plugins: player name, statistics, balance and similar data.
Data in the scoreboard and menu
PlaceholderAPI serves as a link between Minecraft server systems. Instead of static text in the scoreboard, you can display the current balance, group name, statistics or other values provided by extensions. Placeholders are used in messages, menus, player lists, and third-party plugin interfaces.
Expansion and productivity
Each specific value must come from somewhere: some features come with extensions, some integrates with other plugins. Frequent updates of heavy placeholders can create an extra load. Do not display data intended only for administration in public interfaces, and check what the text looks like when there is no source of value.
The Problem of Frequent Updating
If the scoreboard asks for dozens of complex values several times per second, the load becomes noticeable on the big online. The frequency of the update should be chosen according to the meaning of the data: the balance or statistics do not always have to be recalculated every tick. Unused extensions are better to disable and check that empty values do not break the design.

As a reminder we recommend not to rely on, nor use these interfaces, as they can break further in…
