What does LuckPerms do?

LuckPerms manages user rights and groups on the Minecraft server: it allows you to create ranks, inherit permissions and assign temporary privileges.

How rights are arranged

LuckPerms stores permissions not as disparate settings in each plugin, but as a system of groups, inheritances, and contexts. For example, the administrator creates groups “Player”, “VIP” and “Moderator”, assigns them the necessary rights, and gives the user a role. Inheritance eliminates the repetition of a common set of permissions in each group.

Typical setup error

Rights can only be valid in a particular world or on a particular server. Therefore, a situation where a command is available on a spawn and is not available in another dimension is sometimes explained by context rather than a plugin malfunction. The web editor allows you to view the structure of groups before applying changes. Before issuing administrative permits, check that regular players cannot inherit dangerous teams.

Example of role settings

The Player group receives the basic commands, the Moderator inherits them and adds actions to deal with complaints, the Administrator has a separate set of system rights. You should not give full access through universal permission without the need. After each major edit, log in as a test user of the respective group and check which commands are actually available.
