What's Floodgate doing?
Floodgate complements Geyser with a mechanism for Bedrock players to log in to Java servers without a regular Java account, as part of a supported setup.
Authorization of Bedrock Users
Floodgate is used next to Geyser when a Java server owner needs to arrange for players to log in from Bedrock without the need for a regular Java account. It is responsible for identifying and transmitting user information in supported configurations.
Names, UUIDs and rights
When combining two publications, account identifiers are especially important. Rights, land claims, and bans systems can rely on UUIDs or names, so misconfiguration will create confusion between players. Check the Geyser, Floodgate, and proxy bundle before turning on, and then separately test the new Bedrock player’s entry and save his progress.
Separate accounts
For the first test, use a new Bedrock profile and a regular Java account. Check how they are displayed in LuckPerms, private and logs, and whether the data is saved after reconnecting. Identification error is more dangerous than cosmetic failure: it affects the rights and property of the player.
