Minecraft Live 2026 Reveals Ice Caves

At Minecraft Live 2026, Mojang first revealed Ice Caves, icy caves that will be included in the upcoming game drop for regular Minecraft. It is a new subterranean biome built around a cold atmosphere, ice and unusual lighting. The exact date of its release, the developers have not yet named.

The Ice Caves generation will use ice and calcite. For the appearance of the caves are also responsible for two new elements of the environment: icicles and ice crystals. Icicles naturally grow on the ceiling, emphasizing the vertical vaults and cold nature of the biome.

Ice crystals, by contrast, appear on the ground and emit soft light. Thanks to them, Ice Caves will be distinguished not only by a white and blue palette, but also by their own decorative blocks for underground locations. It is these details that Mojang showed in official materials from the presentation.

Together with the biome, the developers introduced a new frozen version of the zombies. The mob has no official name at the time of the announcement. His usual attack is not limited to damage: it also imposes a freezing effect on the player, so meeting such an opponent in a cave will require more caution.

Some of the frozen zombies will be able to attack from a distance, throwing ice balls. Other details about the mechanics, release date or version number Mojang has not yet disclosed. Therefore, unofficial update names and versions that are already found on the network can not be considered confirmed information.
