What does Entity Culling do?
Entity Culling reduces the amount of redundant rendering: it does not show entities and block entities that are completely closed by other objects.
The invisible doesn't need to be painted.
In Minecraft, there can be frames, chests, armor racks, creatures and other objects behind the wall. Even if the player does not see them, processing their graphical representation can take time. Entity Culling checks which entities and block entities are hidden from the camera, and eliminates some unnecessary rendering operations from the graphics card. Mobs do not disappear from the world and continue to act according to the rules of the game.
Where the effect is particularly noticeable
Densely built-up bases, warehouses with containers and rooms with a large number of decorative entities are typical places to check. In an open field where almost all objects are visible, the gain may be minimal. Entity Culling does not reduce the cost of mob artificial intelligence and server logic; other solutions are needed for these tasks. In rare combinations with non-standard renders, visual errors are possible, so compare the picture before and after installation.
Verification method
Open the same scene – for example, a warehouse with many chests behind the wall – and compare the frame time before and after installation. Then turn the camera so that the objects become visible: the load may change. Don’t rate fashion only on an open plain where there’s almost nothing to hide from the render.
